A dog is a man’s best friend; dogs protect him and his home. A dog owner also have responsibilities such as training, food, shelter, and they also make sure that a dog is provided with a proper collar. One of the most commonly used tools for training are electronic dog collars.

Not only can an electronic dog collar help correct your dog’s behavior, it can also warn it of danger by sending signals or electronic shocks from the transmitter to the receiver and you can train him to obey a certain way even when off of a leash. You can set the degree of shock for various sizes of dogs and there are also collars of many different shapes and sizes. Eventually, an electronic collar will no longer be necessary since a dog will learn to avoid misbehavior. For those who don’t like the idea of electronically shocking their dog however, there are collars that send mere warning tones.

Studies show that misbehaviors in dogs are pretty normal barking at the mailman, jumping on a visitor, digging a hole in the backyard and even running after a jogger. These behaviors can be troublesome and excessive which is why they can cause property damage, accidental injuries, and hard to other people and even the dog itself.

Electronic dog collars are especially effective in young dogs and they are developed to help dog owners prevent these problems. Electronic impulses may seem painful but dog owners will be allowed to educate their pet without the need to spank or yell at it.

To use an electronic collar effectively, first let the dog adjust to the feel of it around its neck and then make sure to keep the transmitter with you at all times, as it is a powerful device.

If your dog does not respond to shock level one, only then should you increase the degree but otherwise use the lowest possible stimulation level. The stimulation should be decreased if a dog panics or starts vocalizing.

When an aggressive behavior such as biting is exhibited by the dog, you should not use the electronic collar. With this kind of behavior, it’s better to seek the help of a professional trainer. You should only use the collar when you want to deliver a command that you plan on teaching the dog and avoid using it arbitrarily. Furthermore, training sessions should be located in places your dog is familiar with and should be short, lasting 10 to 15 minutes long, and positive. Any good behavior should be rewarded through play or treats and a the focus of the dog should be on the trainer.

Animal abuse is a crime that can land you in prison which is why you should not abuse or overuse the electronic collar. Remember, a dog is a man’s best friend.
